Player inbounds than out of bounds, than back in

Question
say a player is running the baseline and steps out of bounds, what happens if (1) he is the first to catch the ball or (2) is not the first to touch the ball but catches a pass anyway??  What, if any, infractions are performed here??

Also, out of bounds play under own bucket, player throwing ball in gets in successfully, does v cut out of bounds and then comes in and catches pass and shoots....official says violation and gives the ball to other team...correct or not??

Hi Greg,
The following is from NCAA 2010 AND 2011 MEN扴 AND WOMEN扴 RULES

Section 4. Player Out of Bounds
Art. 1. A player who steps out of bounds under his/her own volition and then
becomes the first player to touch the ball after returning to the playing court
has committed a violation.
Art. 2. After the throw-in is completed, the thrower-in must touch the
playing floor inbounds before touching the ball.

Part 1 of your question is answered by Section 4 Article 1.
Part 2 of your question is answered as follows.  After the thrower-in touches the playing floor inbounds, s/he is then subject to Section 4 Article 1.

As a player it behooves you to know the rules of the game better than officials.  You can only take advantage of the rules as they are laid out if you know and understand them.
Example: if your teammate is dribbling the ball and you run out-of-bounds getting around a defense then re-enter the court and receive a pass from the dribbler, as long as the dribbler touched the ball, even for an instant, after you re-entered the court  - there is no violation.  You can't play a game to it's full capacity until you understand all the rules and learn to utilize them and circumvent them.
