girls basktball

Question
IF YOU ARE INBOUNDING A BALL UNDER YOUR OWN BASKET AND ONE OF YOUR PLAYER ARE IN THE LANE AREA IS THE TIME THEY CAN BE THERE BEFORE THERE IS A VIOLATION?

Answer
HI Charles,

There is no time limit a player can be in their own lane until the ball has been inbounded into their own front court. In other words, lets say Player A-1 is inbounding the ball under their own basket and throws it all the way into the backcourt (which is legal), and player A-2 has possession in the backcourt. Any Team A player may stand in the key or the lane until Player A-2 crosses the half court line, which of course in boys basketball is 10 seconds and in girls 8 seconds. The 3 second in the key violation only applies when you have team control of the ball in your own front court, and the 3 second count resets after every shot attempt. I hope that clears up your question.
