traveling and practice vs. gameday

Question
hello mr.kenward, i couch a park basketball league. my thirteen year old players
are great in practice but come game time they forget how to play. what kind of
drills can i run so they may play good under pressure? also i had a question
about traveling,if you get the basketball and your on both knees can you pick up
one knee ?

Answer
Hello David

With the kids, it sounds like they are feeling too much pressure in games. What I'd suggest is to work on the fun aspect of games - more focus on having fun and less on winning.  If they don't worry about winning as much, their game will flow.  I'd also suggest revving them up with a good pre-game talk focusing on how they are there to have a good time, how great they do in practice and to praise them for ANYthing they do right.

Regards the traveling question, that's outside my specialty, please ask one of the other experts. They'll be able to help you more than me.

Good luck and let me know how it goes.

David
