Question
Hi, I'm John and 14. I have proper form, but sometimes when i shoot it comes off weird like off my ring finger instead of my index or middle finger. How can I change this? Drills are fine, but I would like to know some factors that are causing this. Also, it takes me (I think) to lone to warm up. Some times it takes twenty minutes. Is this weird? However, I'm more concerned with my shooting.

Answer
Dear John,

Usually what plays a role in shooting in general is the non-shooting hand. You see, the ball has to be released with one hand, using fingers, wrist and elbow motion but the non-shooting hand is just use to bring the ball in a steady and comfortable position. You got to get your non-shooting hand slighly away the ball when you release it.

Another factor might be that you don't just use fingers in shooting and the ball might touch your palm. It's very important that you only use your fingers to give a good spin.

Check this site that has drills to improve your handles to shoot better.

Try to perform as many. Get on the court and work hard to get better.

No, 20 minutes of warm up is not weird. In fact, good for you. Don't forget the stretching exercises.
