backspin

Question
Hi, I'm Jake. Lately, I've noticed when I've shot my jumpshot that it produces a very odd spin(for example sidespin, half back, half side). I want to know if there are any factors that are causing this and what I can do to fix it. Thank You, Jake.
P.S My E-Mail may expire, so if you can answer on the forum I will check. Thanks!

Answer
Dear Jake,

Usually what plays the biggest role in odd spins is the non-shooting hand. You see, the ball has to be released with one hand, using fingers, wrist and elbow motion but the non-shooting hand is just use to bring the ball in a steady and comfortable position. You got to get your non-shooting hand slighly away the ball when you release it.

Another factor might be that you don't just use fingers in shooting and the ball might touch your palm. It's very important that you only use your fingers to give a good spin.

Check this site that has drills to improve your handles to shoot better.

Try to perform as many. Get on the court and work hard to get better.
