You can invest in a basic polyester ball. But, your first ball should fit well. A bowling shop with some experience and training will help you get the best fit. Check with the operators and ask a few questions about how they learned to fit and drill. There is a trade organization called IBPSIA (International Bowling Pro Shop and Instructors Association) that certifies operators. Ball weight is 10% of your body weight typically.
