Your response 10/31/2010 Leverage Equipment

Question
Hi once again Mr. Otis, thank you for responding to my questions concerning leverage equipment. To answer your question; I truly understood every aspect of your answers. Which leads me to believe that I need to be observed by PBA Coach and have my bowling game analysed and have her or him suggest the bowling balls cores, layout and rg I need. Layouts are the main questions that need to be answered for me. Thank you very much for your insight and any futher advice you have to offer will be greatly appreciated. I did not mention that I am a USBC Bronze Level Coach and was a Yaba Coach under ABC. Have an enjoyable Veteran's Day! (JCSE) (Coin Check!) Thank You!

Rhyce, it was wonderful hearing from you again. I am happy you understood the information I provided. I hope that you will pursue the Silver Level Certification. In my 19 years of bowling, I had to sit in pro shop after pro shop, and keep my mind open to suggested drillings. I asked ball drillers questions like, "why did you put the hole down there by the thumb? If you got the party line, it would be to balance the ball. Well, why did you put the hole on the side of the ball but near the top?  Again, if you got the party line, it would be to balance the ball. However, a hole on the side of the ball near the top, or a hole on the side of the ball near the bottom can be used to tweak the reaction of the bowling ball.

Technical stuff like this is what the average bowler doesn't get an opportunity to experience unless the pro shop professional is in their corner to provide helpful assistance.
To be a great coach means motivating bowlers to investigate what their current equipment is doing and go from there. It's a wonderful feeling to know what to do to "tweak" a bowler's bowling ball and see their faces light up when the ball just crushes the pins.
I wish you much success on the PBA patterns Rhyce. It may take you a minute to find the shot and then to "tweak" the ball a little here and there. Once you have done it, "its on and crack'n" after that! Best of Luck Rhyce!
