Columbia Yellow Dot 300 Bowling Ball Cover Cracking - Quality Concerns?
Question
I used to bowl a lot and purchased Columbia much of the time. I have had many health problems and the equipment has been idle for several years. I pulled out my bowling ball to find the cover has many serious cracks - I did not know you made snow tread. Does this mean that the cover has a Quality problem? This is a Columbis Yellow Dot 300 marked OQ76909.
Answer
If this is one of the yellow dots from the 70s, it has help up better than most. Any yellow dot I ever owned cracked over time. Some balls worse than others. The Brunswick Mark X was probably the worst. Even the newer balls if not taken care of or drilled properly will crack. Like the yellow dots, what makes the new balls react the way they do can make them have a shorter life expectancy.
I doubt if your problem is a defect in the manufacturing of the ball. A rep from the company would have to determine that.
Good luck,
