PAT

Question
My sophomore football team where on our way to a second consecutive undefeated season however we lost our final game this season we lost 13-14 we missed one extra point in the 4th quarter our kicker missed the extra point but was roughed on the play the officials called roughing the kicker it was my and my teams understanding that since we missed the PAT we should have got another chance at the PAT instead we just got 15 yards on the kickoff. Where we supposed to get another try on that extra point or did the official make the right call?

I assume you are playing under National Federation of High School Football Rules [NFHS].  Your question pertains to a foul by Team B [the defense] on an unsuccessful Try Kick [missed PAT].  That being the case rule 8-3-6 provides the down is replayed after the penalty enforcement. Thus the Try should have been replayed after a half the distance to the gaol enforcement.  NFHS Rule 9-4-5 provides for roughing the kicker for which the enforcement spot is the previous spot. NFHS Rule 10-5-1-h provides special penalty enforcement for roughing the kicker on "successful Trys" not on unsuccessful trys.

It sounds as though from your description that there was a misapplication of the penalty enforcement.  Your team should have had another opportunity for a Try.

The penalty enforcement is the previous spot - where the ball was snapped from before the foul, not the succeeding spot which would be on the Free Kick [kick off].
