Tight end/left tackle

Question
Coach, I am 6'3", 250 at age 14. I played TE in my unlimited weight indoor league and want to play it for my Freshman HS also, but coach has determined that I will beca LT without even giving me a chance to see what I can do. I have an opportunity to transfer to another HS where I will be given the chance to compete. Is this a wise move or will I get labeled as a trouble maker. Thanks

Answer
If your current school and the coaching staff are not going to provide you with the opportunity to compete in the area you want to do, then yes you should transfer- as ong as you can speak to the coach at the transferring school to let them know your reasoning.
I dont know what State you live in-but some scholls have a mandatory "sit out" period for transfer (unless there are what they call "hardship cases" so you would need to ensure you wont have to sit out this upcoming season!

I know several kickers and punters I work with who have transferred to another school, because their current coach where thry were playing were telling them they had to also play at "linebacker" and in addition to kicking.

You have to chase your dream (and not the coach's)

Good Luck with you.
