How to understand huddle language?

Question
QUESTION: Hello Sir,
I have signed up for HS football in spite of never playing football before, therefore I am having some trouble in understanding the offensive huddle language...
Can you please give me some examples of HS huddle language like "split left. left 100 post"
I dont understand any part of it
I am currently playing WR, so please emplasize more on what WR's should do in a particular huddle call.
Thank you
Bhavya

ANSWER: Hi Bhavya,

Here is an examples of a huddle call.

"Split left, 100, Post" Let me break it down for you.

"Split left" is the formation.

"100" is the blocking system that will be used by the linemen.

"Post" is the pass route.

Every coach has his own system so you are going to have to ask your football coach for a handout that explains his system.

Good Luck,
Louis

QUESTION: If post is the primary route in the split left formation, then what routes are the other WR's(wr's without the primary route) running?
Thank You
Bhavya

Answer
Hi Bhavya,
Every football team has their own playbook. And in every playbook the combination of routes are different. This is why you have to ask your football coach to please explain his football system to you. Just ask he is not going to get upset.

Good luck,
Louis
