Transform Your Football Game: Becoming a Dominant Defensive Tackle

Question
Hi I been take in a football team been for the moment the second as a Oline center and DT. I weight 285 Lbs and I 6'2'' tall I really prefer been a DT then center and would like to prove that I am better to become a real DT. I need more speed that for sure and also I never been in a gym but I always been tall and strong but not anymore. I would  appreciate some help and trick to become a better DT and a football player

Answer
Hello Francis,

A DT has to have a lot of upper and lower strength. You also must be able to fire out and stay low. If an offensive lineman gets you stood straight up, he has done 90 percent of his job. Now he just has to turn you. You must also be able to react quickly to the snap of the ball. I suggest have someone to snap the ball, then, fire out into a one man or two man sled and push, drive it 5 to 7 yards. You also must learn the Gap assignments to each defensive call that is made. This is very important. You have to get in a gym and get some strengthening and conditioning in.
