Tight End tips

Question
This coming season i want to play the tight end position, but i what to get more drills in before i ask for that position. Before i played i was a O-line guard, i'm 6'1, 180lb, my team has a balance offense, usually plays against 3-4 defenses(nose guard and 2 tackles at line). any catching drills or lifting you think i should do to improve in this position? Thanks for reading

Answer
Since TE is a combination WR and OL, the best tips I can give you are for catching the ball.  Simple things include: catch the ball with your finger tips, do not let it hit your palms or your body, catch it in front of you where your eyes can see the ball, ALWAYS look the ball into armpit after catching the ball; overemphasize this.  If you can discipline yourself to do this, we will have great success catching passes.  Lastly, practice catching the ball with one hand.  It is a mind trick, if you can catch it with one, imagine how good you would be using both!!  Please visit my website coachfromthestands.com   Coach B
