Walk-On Football Scholarships at Northeastern & D1 Schools: A Coach's Perspective

Hey Coach, I'm planning to join Northeastern's Football team as a walk on. I think I have potential and can be really good. I'm wondering what are some good ways to get coaches to give me a walk on scholarship? Are those scholarships usually rather be given to an incoming freshmen? and do some d1 schools have like a football grants or something for their players? Thanks

Schools are limited to numbers & types of scholarships by the NCAA that are available.  Walk ons hardly ever get one offered until you proved yourself & might be offered your third or fourth year....
