Assessing ones potential.

Question
Hello Mr. Kenward,
I am 19 years-old.
I am wanting to set some "realistic" goals.
I really want to play QB, even if I am just a back-up.

How many yards is possible to add to your spiral and deep ball?
Do surgical bands work?
Also, how many tenths is possible to shave off your 40 yard dash?

Hope I was crisp and to the point.

Thank you for your time.

Answer
Hello Jeremy

The physical game is all about your strength, endurance and flexibility (basic physical potential) and your skills.

Once the physical game is developed, it's possible to increase performance using the mental game, which is using your mind to help your body do its best.  The biggest thing that holds back our performance is stress and tension - by getting rid of those, we automatically improve, since that gets rid of things holding us back.

Specifically, I don't know how many yards it's possible for YOU to add to your spiral and deep ball and I don't know how many tenths it is possible for YOU to shave off your 40-yard dash.  Everyone is different.

What I can tell you is that, as long as you have the physical game, by practicing relaxation, visualization and focus, you WILL improve.  I see improvement with my clients everyday.  Using the mental game WORKS.

If you'd like a couple of specific suggestions write back and let me know.

Good luck and let me know how it goes.

David
