how to get in shape

Mr. Noel, I know you are a offensive coach, but i need some advice on how to get into shape. My name is Casey, and I am 6'10" 275.  I played middle linebacker in high school, and Im looking into joining semi pro or arena. If you could help me out, and tell me what i need to do, and what position would probably be best suited for me. thank you

    Hi Casey,  I would think that at your size, you will not play linebacker at the semi pro or arena level.  Depending on your quickness you will probably play Defensive end or Offensive tackle.  In either case you need to get into shape to be effective.  I would suggest hitting the weight room, and concentrating most of your work out on three basic body areas.  First work on your chest, doing all varieties bench press exercises.  Second essential exercise is leg press and squats.  The third is lower back deadlifts, clean and jerk lifts.  Finally I would suggest running at least 1 1/2 every day.  Also make sure you are eating a healthy diet along with an increase on your protein intake.  GOOD LUCK!
