House League vs. Rep League: Understanding Minor Hockey
Question
Hi
What doe the terms house league and rep league mean, ans are they different from minor hockey? Thanks
Answer
Bud,
Thanks for writing. Rep Hockey (travel) is a league in which the team belongs or plays within a league where the team has to travel to play games, but within a league structure. Where House League is on performed within the "home" rink and does not travel.
Rep is generally at a higher skill level, where as House is designed for skill development. In each program (if they want the program to grow) should have 3 main programs.
1. Developmental Program: like an ADM or a Hockey 123 program. Both are the same.
2. House League: Is designed to allow those kids within the Developmental program to test out those skills.
3. Travel or Rep program is designed to "represent" the rink and their programs or association.
I hoped this helped.
