Hockey Career Restart: Seeking Professional Opportunities for Experienced Forward

Question
Heres another question from a guy who just can't seem to give up the dream to play professional hockey.  I am a 1987, 200lbs, 6'2" forward.  I can skate. I played since I was 7 years old, was scouted by the Swift Current Broncos of the WHL and invited to camp with them when I was 13. I played for the AAA midget jr. Kings and played juniors in the CSHL.  I stop playing right before I was to play my final year in the NAHL.  This past year I hired a Division I trainer who got me in the best shape of my life. September 21-23 I attended the Stockton Thunder tryout and was told by Coach Matt that I was one of the 8 he was looking at to bring to main camp. he was floored when I told him that I have not played competeively in 5 years. Obviously, I wasn't selected but he advised to try and find a place to play competively at a high level to get my game timiming back.  The NHL lockout is making it difficult w/ players bumping down.  Where do I go? Any suggestions?

Answer
Wow, sounds like you have a great resume.  However, with the NHL lockout, this will be a problem.  However, there is a new pro league developing in Florida and they are looking for players and staff members.  I applied for the commissioners job, but they told me to go take a flying leap.

Doesn't matter anyways, I have too much on my plate as it is.  Here try this new league.  They might be able to assist you with a team. http://www.linkedin.com/pub/ray-blanchette/56/34/2a7

Hope this helps.
