Question
hey i had a question about skates, i have old koho 2250's.  There so old they dont even make them anymore.  My question is can i still play at a high level with skates that arent top notch.  I love these skates and i dont really want to switch plus money is tight so id rather not get new skates.  The problem is, is that everyone keeps telling me I wont be able to play high level hockey with skates that are old technology compared to everyone else.  My goal is to make it to the echl and i just need some adivce on this thankyou.

Answer
Hi Cory...

I'd say find a way to budget in new skates... Nothing is impossible and I've seen guys play at high levels with real old equipment ... but it can impact your odds.  If you have lighter skates with a better (safer) boot - you might be able to do some things you never did - including keeping injuries to a minimum...  the last thing you'd need is to get a shot off your foot that would put you out of commission for a long time!

You can probably stay on these for a while ...  but I'd be serious about looking for another pair.   There are some really good bargains on line - or even at many "play it again sports stores"...  don't be afraid to negotiate... sales are down in hockey gear too --  you might get a great pair for a very good price!

Good luck!
