Soccer?

2016/7/16 9:37:35

Question
Hi
My son finished his second season of hockey and loves it.
I am trying to think of a summer sport to enroll him in that would also help his hockey skills.
I have heard lacrosse is good but we dont have that here.We have just about every other summer sport though.
What about soccer? There is lots of stopping and starting and agility stuff that might help.
Thanks.

Answer
Hi Vanessa

Thanks for your question. I wrote a few articles a while back that address this very issue. Here is the article

http://howtohockey.com/sports-that-will-help-build-hockey-skills

There are also articles linked in that one that cover tennis, squash, lacrosse, and soccer.

The fact is that all of those sports will help your son become a better overall athlete, and each sport has a different skill that will carry over into hockey.

Soccer is great if your son plays defense, Lacrosse is said to be the best.

You could always pick up a few lacrosse sticks and your son can play with his friends
