Goalie sticks wood vs composite

QUESTION: Dina,

My son is a freshman playing varsity hockey as the backup goalie. In the last 3 mos he has broken two identical Warrior composite sticks in the same place (midway up between paddle and top of shaft). While I know the high school shots are much faster and harder, in the prior 7 years, he has neer broken even one. I can't find good articles reviewing wood vs composite except for weight. Warrior just replaced the last stick since it was 32 days old.

Any recommendations (BTW, it's a senior stick)?

Did you call the Warrior company and ask them? I do not have experience w/ the composites because I would never use one. I like the traditional old school sticks and feel they last longer and you'll save $!

QUESTION: No they would not answer the question and would only send me the exact stick back. They have not been in the goalie stick business for long but recommended I try to return it to their dealer to purchase another stick. Not happy about spending $280 on two sticks in 3 mos.

It sounds to me that they know their stick has some issues. I can't tell you what to use, but I would go back to the basics and pick a few light, comfortable regular ones. BTW if it's splitting on the side where you say, I think that is pretty common place for a stick to break, but it is RARE!
