re: lie

Question
Hi Martial!

i heard some guys on my team talking about "lie" of the stick . . . what exactly is that?

Answer
The Lie represents the angle of the blade at the base of the shift.  The higher the lie the less of an angle there is on the blade - meaning your blade will be flat to ice more when you put stick out at arm's length...  usually defensemen have higher lies like 6 and forwards have smaller one like 5...  It also has to do with way you skate - erect vs. hunched over, how tall you are, and personal preference in the FEEL!

Hope this helps!

Thanks

M
