Shot on Goal

2016/7/16 9:36:37

Question
Hi.  Could you please define what a shot on goal is ? Is any time a goalie stops the puck a shot on goal ? What if there is an empty net and another player prevents a goal, is that considered a shot on goal ? What about when a player slides in front of a puck destined for the goal , would that be a shot on goal ?  Thanks.

Answer
Frank, thanks for writing.  Statistical information is calculated ONLY when the goalie make the stop.  However, having said that, a shot off the post is also considered a shot on goal, regardless if it goes in or is deflected away.

Thanks again for writing.
