Where do i start?

Question
Hi, I have been watching watching rugby all my life but i never got  a chance to play until now.i know theres a huge difference in watching and stepping up to playing. i'm 21 years old and 175cm and a scrawny 60kg's but i'm very keen to play scrum half. I was wondering were do i start whats the ideal weight i should aim for and how do i prepare during the off season? I read previous post about whats required of a scrum half but is there anything else i need to do?

Cheers Rudy

Answer
Hi Rudy sorry for taking so long to get back to you. our best bet is t associate yourself with the rugby club or team you are going to play with. Most clubs have an off season program or at least a coule of games of touch rugby a week.

If you are lucky your club may have a training schedule for players on th eoff season and if you know someone who plays rugby just ask that they take you under their wing to hang out and watch the rugby games on tv and explain what is going on, Learning rugby will take a while so just be patient and accept the fact that it will take a season or two to get a basic idea of the game.

A good book is "Rugby for Dummies" it is directed towards the American Audience but is pretty good. If there is a local version or something like it get it.

At this point the best thing to do it get a rugby ball and find a mate who is already a half back to start giving you instruction in passing and general game knowledge.
