skirting a tackle

Question
I'm new to rugby this season, and I've been playing scrum half,  I find that I can evade tackle for the most part, but have trouble fighting one once my opposition makes contact with me, any tips on shaking tackles? head on, or from the side will do. Thanks

Answer
Hi, to evade tackles you can do a number of things. 1, use your hand to fend of a player pushing him down or use his momentum and push him in the direction he is running. 2, With your free hand "chop" down on his hand it has to be hard and fast to make him pull away. 3, aim your body towards the first tackler and run directly at him don't give him time to get into a tackle position. 4,Sidestep at speed..practice with cones or a friend learn to read the oppositions running pattern. 5, wrap around...pass the ball to an inside player run around him and get him to pass the ball to you...this has to be quick. This gets the opposition on the back foot and gives you a chance to build up your speed.

hope that helps
