RUGBY TESTING

2016/7/16 9:55:06

Question
My friend Dale Harder has written a book called Strength and Speed. I am helping Dale with research to update the records for his next edition Some of the "softer" records are the best distance runs by weight (i.e. 800 - 10,000 meters). Rugby athletes are this size (and have much better aerobic fitness than most American football players/shot putters/weightlifters). I wanted to know if you knew or had any access to big rugby athletes that may have run these distance in fast times. These performances may qualify as a world record for bodyweight.

Thanks for your help,

Clay Parker

Answer
Hello Clay - I would contact USA Rugby directly (I assume you are in the USA?) if not then the National Rugby Union headquarters in the country you are in.

USA rugby are very open door I have replies from the CEO himself on fairly small topics. If you can give USA Rugby and its players some spot light (I would sell that up a bit) you should get a lot of co-operation.

Also try the New Zealand Rugby Union and the University of Auckland and the Uni of Otago (in NZ too) they are pretty into the stats and research of the game.

Good luck
