from american football to rugby union

Question
I played defensive tackle in american football in high school but I want to make that transition to rugby union what would be the ideal position right now? I am 6'2.5" 273 lbs somewhat fit.

Answer
Sorry mate I have no idea what a defensive tackle is, I rarely watch football. I suggest locating a local club/team and showing up. Rugby teams a super welcoming to new players (if they aren't then move on to another team!) They will be able to asses your build and potential skill in person and help you. I suggest "Rugby for Dummies" as a good starter for the basics too.

Have fun, welcome to rugby.
