What position to play?

2016/7/16 9:56:38

Question
Hi I'm 18 years old 6.1'' tall and weigh 82 to 87 kg(yes it does fluctuate quite a bit)
I have good upper body strength, average legs(can squat a max of 110kg) and good stamina. i am however none too fast, i can only do 100m in 14 seconds. But i do have good ball skills.
i'm starting club rugby soon and would be keen to know what position i'm best suited to. I did play prop and hooker a few years back but i'm not the right size for that now. i'm from south africa
Regards
Barry Martin

Answer
Forget size mate, play the positon you like best. You are in a funny size that could suite lock, prop, hooker, number 8 or flanker. If you are a little slower but have good fitness you might consider number 8 or hooker. Really hard for me to say. If there is a weak position on the team aim to fill it.
