What Position?

2016/7/16 9:56:43

Question
Hi, I am 18, 6ft 3 inches and 18 stone(250 lbs) what position would be best for me?

Thanks in advance

Answer
Hi Kris based on the speed you mentioned in your feedback and your strength I suggest lock. If you are finding you are as fast as a flanker or #8 while at practice then go for that. Time will tell and you can work on speed too. Thanks very much

Based on the size you gave me you could make a good lock, flanker, #8 but if you are a true speed demon you could be a wing or a center.

I suggest choosing yourself after researching the positions and their duties.

Wikipedia has a good break-down of the duties and requirements of each position.

If you are really new to rugby I suggest "Rugby for Dummies" which you can get online for about $10.

I also suggest looking through my past answers to get information.
