Pods

2016/7/16 9:56:58

Question
I just started playing as a second row. After line outs or tackles I was told to form a pod. I wanted to know which side of the ruck do I form the pod on for the best play.

Answer
do you mean "mauls?" after line outs follow your forwards and your other team mate (if your #4 follow #5) communicate between the both of you to determine who takes which side.
Basically, you are helping to form a attack wall or defensive wall. SO your job is to look at what your other forwards are doing and plug the gaps or clearing players of the ball.

If your on the left, go to the left side when your in mauls...makes it easier to remember. But talk to your other lock and formulate a way to make this work for you.

Hope that helps.
