batter interference

Question
In an attempt by the catcher to throw, to third,or any base,if the batter stays in the batters box and does not move can she be called out for interfering with the throw? This is at the 10u level.Monday night in the 2010 World Cup Championship the catcher hit the USA's batters bat in an attempt to throw to third  base. No call was made and the ball was still in play.

Answer
Without being there, this sounds like the correct call to me.

The batter can be called for interference while still in the box.  This would usually happen for a play at home not a throw down.

As long as the batter doesn't do something to interfere, other than being where they are supposed to be.  If the catcher is not able to get the ball to third by positioning herself correctly, the batter will not be called for interference.  On very rare occasions the batter may do something while in the box that would be judged interference.
