Base Awarded When Ball Goes Out of Play - Baseball Rules

Question
Batter hits a ball to the OF.  Hitter rounds 1B and heads for 2B.  The OF picks up the ball and throws to 2B.  Runner not yet at 2B, but the thrown ball sails over 2B and into the out of play area.  How many bases is he awarded and where in the rule book can this be found?

Thank you

Answer
Dave,

I don't know what ruleset you are referring to, so no rule book reference.  And I usually don't look rule up for folks anyways.  Normally the only time that I provide rules references is when I actually have to look up the answer myself.  In this case, I don't have to look it up.

The runner is awarded 2 bases from where she was at the time of the throw that went out of play.

Your runner gets third on this one.
