Slow Pitch Softball: Foul Ball Rule Explained - When is it Fair or Foul?

I am coaching my grand daughter this year in slow pitch. My ? is on a ball hit down the line, if the defenseive player touches the ball b-4 it goes past the base and has 1 foot in foul territory and 1 foot in fair, is it fair or foul?

Hi danny,

great for helping out your DGD (darling granddaughter). On a ball in flight or on the ground between home and 1st or 3rd it is always where THE BALL is when 1st touched by the defense, NEVER where the player is.

If the ball is in/over fair territory when 1st touched it is a fair ball, likewise the opp for foul ball.
