nervous

Question
i am so nervous for try-outs i have tryouts at three today and my stomach feels like it is turned upside down i am so nervous. there are going to be so many girls out there and dont know i am going to do it. I know that i have the skills but i am afraid that me being nervous will get the best of me. What should i do to relax myself so i can do the best of my ability.

Answer
Hi Allyson,

Well, if your try-outs were at three I hope you did well.  I just received a message from the All Experts people that told me your question was waiting for me so, but there may have been delay in my being notified so I hope I didn't catch you too late.

Well, try-outs can certainly be nerve-racking and they only really get easier with practice.  Practice generates confidence, which is really what you need during a stressful situation...and that goes for pretty much everything.

I recommend a good warm-up beforehand with a couple of friends, but don't tire yourself out.  Being the right state of mind is important also (that's 50% of the battle).  Essentially, you just need to tell yourself that you're going to do the best you can....and when everything is all said and done, that's really all that you can do.  The best you can.  Sometimes it's good enough and sometime it's not.  For the rare cases when it's not you should be able to walk away comfortable that you did what you could and know that you need to improve.

But my experience has been that if you give it your all, you will succeed.

My last bit of advice.  BE DETERMINED (what it...bad!)  BE CONFIDENT!  ......and most importantly, had fun.  :)

Good luck Allyson!
