Leadoff from firstbase

Hi Mark - Please help?  Last night we were playing ladies fastball and the base umpire called me out and stated 'lead off'.  I paused to ask for explanation and she claims I left from the orange bag (post ball leaving pitchers hand).  Was she accurate in her call?  I can't seem to locate this specific situation in the ASA rules and am not looking to protest the call, just simply want to understand?  A brief elaboration of the rules applied to running to first base and the tagging of the white bag versus orange and the rules involved in the turning motion of your body after tagging the orange bag would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks for your time.  I look forward to your information.  Thanks again, Brandy

In ASA fp you can leave the base as soon as the ball leaves the pitcher's hand so I don't why you were called out if as you say it was post ball..

Now once you have safely achieved 1st the entire double base becomes 1 large base.  You can overrun and return to either base or contact either base during the pitch and return to contact either base.

If there is a play at 1st you must use the orange and the defense the white unless the throw is coming from foul territory or the throw pulls F3 into foul territory.  In those cases the offense and defense can use either
