ASA House League Game Called Early Due to Rain? Understanding Game Length Rules

Question
Last Friday Night we had a game in the middle of the fifth inning the game was called due to rain. We were the home team and had not batted that inning. We were down by two. The league called the game complete and we were handed a loss. Was this the correct call?

Answer
Hi Jeremy,

In "strict" ASA play you need 41/2 or 5 innings to have a reg game.

41/2 if the home team is ahead, which means the visitors have batted 5 times

leagues can have their own rules on this but in this case whoever was ahead at the end of 4 should be the winner. the visitor shouldn't be allowed any runs scored in the 5th
