out of bounds rule

Question
say left feilder is going for the ball that is still in the air, it hits his glove when he is in fair grounds but he misses it and the ball lands out of bounds. Is that fair or foul.

Answer
Hi Mark,

It never, ever, never matters where the fielder is when the ball is 1st touched, it ONLY matters where the ball is.

If the ball is in fair territory when 1st touched by a defensive player it is a fair ball regardless of what happens after that.

If the ball is in foul territory when 1st touched by a defensive player it is a foul ball regardless of what happens after that.

Mark
