Slow Pitch Softball: Third Strike Rule Differences (NSA vs. ASA)

In slow pitch, I know in NSA the third tip or foul ball is still a strike and the batter would be out, but I am unsure about whether ASA rules are the same.  If this is the case, how long has it been this way? When did this rule change?
