Time in between pitches

Question
I have a question regarding the time in between pitches. We live in Indiana and use the IHSAA rules. How much time allowed from the time the catcher throws the ball back to the pitcher and the next pitch is delivered? We had a situation with the catcher getting the ball back to the pitcher and the pitcher standing poised on the mound for 12-14 seconds before delivering the pitch. I wasn't sure if this could be considered a delay of game, or if the pitcher could take as much time as needed. Thanks in advance.

Donnie.

Answer
Hello Donnie,

Once the pitcher has taken the signal from the catcher or (simulated taking a signal), she has ten seconds to deliver the ball.  I don't know what the time is from the time she receives the ball.  I know the batter has 20 seconds to step out of box after pitch then return to box and be ready to hit next pitch.  I would assume the pitcher is governed by a similar time restraint, but you may want to ask one of our umpiring experts for definitive answer.
