runner tagged before he vacated base

Question
Runners at first and second, no out.
Groundball hit to me at shortstop. The runner on second base stood his ground on the bag. I tagged him (while he was standing on second base), stepped on second, then threw to first, getting the batter out.

Certainly the runner at first base and the hitter were out, but what about the runner on second, who I tagged while he remained on the bag?

With a runner behind him, he was in the situation of being forced to run to third ... can he use second base as a 'safe  home' to avoid the tag?

Did I get a triple play?

Thanks!

Answer
Hi Daniel,

CONGRATS!!!...you did indeed get a triple play....

as long as you tagged the runner @ 2nd first and then stepped on 2nd, and then got the runner @ 1st.  R1 no longer has a legal right to the base when the batter became a b-r (forcing R2 to 2nd)and is liable to be put out w/ a tag while standing on the base he is no longer entitled to.

Had you stepped on 2nd 1st you would have removed the force and R1 could not be put out while standing on the bag.
