10U game start time

Question
In a tournament playing 10 and under should the girls be allowed to start a game at 9:30 p.m. after they have been playing since 8:00 a.m. that morning? the game did not finish until 11:00 p.m. was this to late? Shouldn't this game been played the next day? Also should a home plate umpire where sunglasses at night when it is clearly dark outside?

Answer
Hello Scott

These are questions that should be directed to the Tournament Director of that particular tournament.

If you are asking for an opinion I think the 10U games should start no earlier than 8am and no later than 8pm however that may not be possible if the tournament was overbooked or because of other scheduling problems or for other delays. My team participated in a lot of weekend tournaments and it is brutal for ant age starting games at daybreak then not leaving the ballpark until well after midnight.

Sunglasses worn by umpires are permitted. Wearing them at night? Perhaps strange however he/she may have a medical reason for wearing them?I don抰 know, again a question for the Tournament Director or Chief Umpire.
