Question
Hi Tom,
Is there any little league rule regarding surrender.  I am familiar with the ten run at the end of the fourth. What about after the fourth when a game gets out of hand and the losing team is seemingly unable to make three outs. Is there some kind of forfeit or surrender rule?

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Brian Grant

Answer
Brian,

Anytime a team wants to pull from the field, they can forfeit.  I know that a forfeit in High School is scored 7-0.  I am not sure how it would be scored in Little League.

Something that might be better is for the base coach of the team up to bat to mention to the umpire to make sure that they watch for girls leaving the base early.  Then, tell a runner to leave early.  This is a pretty subtle way to give a team an out that desparately needs it.
