Too many girls at one position! How do I get noticed?

Question
Hi, I'm a sophomore OH on my school's JV volleyball team. There are currently four OHs on my team so you really have to work hard for your spot. Since one of the hitter's is a junior, she automatically gets to play as a starter even if she's not doing too well. There was only me and one other hitter that switched back and forth, but in one game all three of us kept hitting it out so she moved a MB to our position... and she's doing a lot better than all of us. Ever since that game, I've been doing really well. I've worked on my timing and my hitting has gotten really good. But my coach still doesn't play me that much in the front row, just back. I was wondering if you knew any way I could show her that I'm ready to play back in the front row. I want to be a starter again but I don't think she's noticed my improvement. I just want to show her that I'm ready, if you have any advice on how to show her it would be really helpful.

Thank you.

Answer
Good evening and welcome to www.allexperts.com.

I'm sorry that I haven't been more prompt.  I am reffing, giving lessons, being a husband and a high school math teacher!  I think I have too much on my plate right now.

Here's my advice:
a) Keep it up!!
b) Give your best effort.
c) Don't worry about what coach sees.  Just do your best.
d) Keep smiling, touching, hugging, high-fiving, etc.
e) When you're on the bench, be the most spirited girl there!  It may not increase your playing time a lot, but if you have a bad attitude, that will SURE take away whatever playing time you would have received!

Just do the right thing and look out for the TEAM!  If you ever are sitting there, or at home, and you say, "I don't know what to do," then you say to yourself, "What does the team need?  What would be best for the team?"  When you answer that, then do it!  And you'll be right!  :)
