Help with a doubles tournament format

Question
I'm looking for a doubles tournament format that plays each player with each other keeping track of individual points for a final ranking of players.  I've heard of the German term Bering (spelled wrong I'm sure) or Duke and Dutches or modified Round Robin.  Any suggestions?

Answer
Hello Kim:

Thank you for visiting www.allexperts.com!

I don't think I'm going to be able to help you. As a high school coach, I've done tournaments like this before, but have always just scratched something up in the hours before the tournament begins.

For example, if you're expecting 12 girls, then let them pull a number from a hat and then say, "1 & 2 vs 3 and 4, 5 and 6 vs. 7 and 8, etc."   After that's done, then say, "1 and 7 vs. 2 and 8, 3 and 9 vs. 4 and 10, etc."  After that's done, then call out the next pairing.

If you're trying to have every girl pair with every other girl, WHOA than can be really hard to complete.  However, if you want most girl to play with most of the other girls, then it's achievable.

I'm sorry that I'm not any more help.  And those other words that you mentioned, "Bering, Duke, Dutches," etc., I don't know what those are.  Maybe another reader will come to my rescue!  :)

For all this great info, I ask that you visit www.coachhouser.com!  haha  There are enough smiling faces there for all of the players in your tournament, with some left over!

Please email me if my staff can ever be any more help to you.
