hitter calls

I have been asked to help my friend coach a freshman girls volleyball team.  
She has never even played volleyball before, but doesn't want to risk her job
security by turning her school down, and since i played volleyball for about 4
years i offered to help her out.  It's been about 7 years since i played last, and
although i remember most of the rules, i cannot for the life of me remember
any hitter calls. a memory refresher would be AWESOME! and also any tips
you could give to help coach these girls in practices.  Any drills you would
recommend or training techniques.

any help you could give would be awesome!! thanks so much!

First, when you say "hitter calls," what exactly do you mean?  I think I know, but don't want to type forever, then you say, "That's not what I meant."  haha
