Playing position

Question
I play with a mixed group of males and female seniors on an asphalt court.  We have one player who is extremely quick and frequently plays out of position when he feels a player will not move fast enough to get to the ball. Additionally he usually does not call the ball (nor pass it). Obviously this has resulted in more than one collision and subsequent injury. Are there any specific rules regarding playing one's position, or only suggested techniques?

Answer
Gayle,

There is no rule, sorry to say.  And the expression is called "Ball Hog".  The only thing you can do is ask the player to play their position or ask him to find another team.

You could also make a kiddy, say .25 put in a jar for every time you don't call for the ball.  The money could add up quickly and if nothing else happens you could at least have a few cocktails on the "Ball Hog".

Good Luck with your situation.

Steve
