antique pole

Question
I have an antique pole of which I'm hoping you can tell me the value and year. It is in very good condition. The marking on the rod reads J C Higgins inside of a fish head; Sears roebuck and co; fiber glass and one more thing on the bottom of the stamp that is just barely illegible but ends in Ltd. The handle is made of Cork and the base is aluminum. Furthur up the pole is stamped Model 369-38784 6'6" and a bunch more letters and nubers below that.

Answer
Will

I will be tough to determine the age of your rod, however, its post 1950s when fiberglass replaced steel and bamboo as the materials of choice. Sears sold other manufacturers goods under their trade name JC Higgins.

Most of their equipment was low to medium quality fishing tackle. But, there are a few exceptions where they carried high quality, high priced items which hold collector interest.

Most of their rods are in the $10 to $20 range.

Bob
