True Temper rod and reel

Question
Can you tell me anything about a True Temper rod with a built in reel? It has a number on it says 63TF with hologlas 6' Stainless Steel Guides. The reel says True Temper UNI-SPIN 63L.Any info you can give me I would really appreciate it. Also how would I go about getting a replace the handle on the reel? Other than that it's in Good shape.                 Thank You  MaDonna

I did not find this rod in my reference books...but, I did find plenty of data doing some internet searches.  It does not appear to be a particularly scarce rod and the reel setup is interesting and looks easy to use so I would assume they were popular.  Collector interest is not likely to be high but the rod/reel combination would still be good for fishing.  Value is probably in the $15-$40 range depending on actual condition of both the rod and reel.

Regarding the reel handle, I haven't reached my friend who deals in reels yet.  I'll keep trying. In the meanwhile, you might try looking at flea markets, swap meets, antique stores or even some of the online auctions for a matching handle.  You might also check to see if there is a local rod builder in your community.  If so, ask about the handle...we rod builders tend to accummulate boxes and tubes and barrels of spare pieces and parts.

Hi MaDonna,

I recently acquired two reference books on True Temper donated by a very generous person.  I do not have them with me at the moment, but I will be able to look through them tomorrow evening and I will send a revised answer then (Sunday evening).

I also know someone who may be able to help on the reel handle.  I'll try to reach him tomorrow as well.
