Valuing a Vintage South Bend Fly Rod #55 - Expert Appraisal
Question
I have searched the site and can't find an answer. Your help is much appreciated in advance. I inherited this rod from my Uncle who was an antique dealer. I have no knowledge of fly rods. It is well intact and has its own case with 2 tips. I would send a pic but it is not in my possesion at the time. I have an avid collector who would like to buy it before auction and I have no idea of the price. Can you help me?
Thanks for your time,
Kathy
Answer
Hi Kathy,
The model #55 doesn't show up as often as others, but they are out there. Condition is everything on this rod. In Good-Very Good condition it would be valued in the $120-$160 range; in Excellent-Mint condition it would be in the $200-$250 range.
Having the complete rod with bag and tube is a plus.
Good luck, Joe
