Conolon fishing rod

Question

conolon1.jpg
I found a Conolon 'Live Fiber' rod in a bargain bin, had new guides installed, and have been using it on a regular basis. I assumed that this rod was fiberglas until I broke the tip off. Now I'm wondering if it doesn't have a wood core.

Is it a simple fiberglas rod and does it have any value as a collectors item ? I would also be interested in knowing how old it might be.

Answer
Hi Bill,

It is a fiberglass rod.  NARMCO created the process that led to the early Conolon rod shafts and was later purchased by Garcia.  Yours appears to be an earlier rod.

Value would be in the $10-$15 range since you broke the tip on it.  Complete it would be more like $30-$40.

Thanks,  Joe
